Macut with EU countries' ambassadors: Support for Serbia on European path

Prime Minister of Serbia Djuro Macut spoke on Wednesday with ambassadors of the European Union countries in Belgrade, who wished him successful work in his new job and said they remain committed to EU expansion, as well as that they will continue to help Serbia on its way to EU integration.

Serbian Prime Minister's Office announced that Macut stressed that open dialogue is the basis of democracy and that, aware of the challenges facing Europe, the priority of his work remains unity, understanding and progress of Serbia with the aim of achieving full membership in the EU.

"Serbia has been committed to European values for more than two decades, it has started reforms in many fields, and I believe that together we can achieve all the ambitious goals we have set," said Macut.

The head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, assessed that the prime minister of Serbia took office at a historically significant moment.

According to Giaufret, because of the situation in Europe, it is necessary to look to the future, work on the implementation of reform tasks, improvement of the rule of law and all other areas.

The ambassadors of EU countries said that they represent a compact group of countries who are very willing to help Serbia achieve best possible progress on its path to the EU.
