Strong earthquake hits Serbia

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake was reported on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 14:43 in the territory of southern Serbia.

According to available data, the epicenter of the earthquake was located near Sokolovica, at about 12.2462 kilometers from its center, with the following geographic coordinates: latitude 43.3227,  longitude 20.2824.

The Seismological Survey of Serbia announced that at 14:43 ,an earthquake of a 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale was registered in the region of Sjenica.

The hypocenter of the earthquake, according to the data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, was located at a depth of approximately 6 kilometers below the earth's surface.

So far, there have been no reports of material damage or injuries, while the competent Serbian services are monitoring the situation.
