A joint declaration of the heads of state participating in the Brdo-Brijuni Process is expected, which would confirm commitment to supporting EU integration and inclusive cooperation with the goal of a peaceful, strong, stable, prosperous and united European Union, and confirming the continuation of the promotion of good-neighborly cooperation.

The summit in Durres is organized by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Natasa Pirc Musar and Zoran Milanovic, and hosted by the president of Albania, Bajram Begaj.

The Brdo-Brijuni Process is a regional initiative launched by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia with the aim of strengthening cooperation and dialogue between the countries in the Western Balkans, as well as supporting their moving closer to the European Union.

The founders of the initiative are the former presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Borut Pahor and Ivo Josipovic.

The name of the initiative came from the place where the first meeting was held - Brdo near Kranj (Slovenia) and Brijuni (Croatia).

The summit is considered as complementary to the Berlin Process and other international initiatives aimed at integration of the Western Balkans in the EU, and also provides a platform for open discussions regarding disputes and challenges within the region.

Brdo-Brijuni Process meetings have been held every year since 2013, the previous one in 2024 in Tivat, Montenegro.
