President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic has said, after participating in the 9th Session of the Committee on European Affairs in the Bundestag in Berlin, that the topics of discussion with German MPs were Serbia's EU path and its relationship with Russia.

In her statement to journalists, Brnabic said that those topics about which all members of the Committee could ask her questions about the situation in Serbia were more dominant than the protests in Serbia.

She stressed that it was the first time that one of the Serbian officials was invited to the Bundestag and added that German MPs said their goal was to hear the other side as well, considering that "they always have the opportunity to hear one side."

"I wish I had a little more time to respond, but, well, at least this is the first time we got a chance to, which speaks volumes in terms that something has changed here as well. You know, until now there have been various debates, discussions, even in the plenum and in committees, without the participation of any of the Serbian officials," said Brnabic and expressed gratitude for the invitation to state other theses, views and answers.

She added that media freedom and dialogue with civil society organizations were also discussed and pointed out that Serbia had answers to all questions.

"It was quite tense, given that the exact time for questions and answers was set, unfortunately, at some moments that set time, three quarters were spent on the questions, then I had one quarter to answer all those questions. However, I tried to, in the best possible way, explain everything that is happening in Serbia. Also, but the focus was even greater on Serbia's relations with Russia and our EU path and how committed we are to that EU path. So, that was a bigger and more dominant topic than the protests", said Brnabic.
