Serb List: Arrival of Kosovo Security Force to northern Kosovska Mitrovica aimed at causing fear among Serbs
The Serb List stated that today's arrival of members of the Kosovo Security Force (KFS) in northern Kosovska Mitrovica without the approval of the KFOR commander and without the consent of the citizens living in the north of Kosovo and Metohija is a dangerous and deliberate provocation, aimed at destabilizing the situation on the ground and causing fear and unrest among the Serb people.
Representatives of the KSF have in the meantimes announced tthat the incident happened "by mistake."
In a statement, the Serb List asks KFOR to increase the vigilance and presence of its forces in all Serb areas in the north, in order to prevent new attempts at unilateral actions and to protect peace and security of all citizens.
"It is obvious that the outgoing regime in Pristina is trying to cause tensions and conflicts in this way, in order to divert the public's attention from its failures and raise its shaky political ratings among the voters," the statement added.
It warns that such actions are unacceptable and can have serious consequences for the stability of the region, and calls on the international community, especially KFOR, to act in accordance with its mandate and prevent such incidents from happening again.
"The arrival of the KFS members caused great upset among the citizens, who rightly expect to be guaranteed peace, security and compliance with all agreements that clearly prohibit the presence of these units in the north without the approval of KFOR," stressed the Serb List.
A column of vehicles belonging to the so-called KSF passed through the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica this morning.
According to the agreement from 2013, the so-called KSF cannot go to the north of Kosovo without prior permission from KFOR.
