Dacic: Serbian police took part in international operation, ton of cocaine seized, 8 Serbian citizens arrested
Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has announced that members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), Criminal Police Directorate (UKP), have taken part in an international operation to combat drug trafficking, carried out in cooperation with the Spanish, Colombian and Slovenian police forces and supported by EUROPOL.
17 people were arrested in Spain, all suspected members of a criminal network that included eight Serbian citizens. 1.1 tons of cocaine, as well as weapons and cash have been confiscated.
"Serbian citizens B.B. (62), B.I. (49), M.B. (26), M.N. (28), S.S. (38), R.M. (21), D.P. (32) and N.T. (32) have been arrested in Spain. They are suspected of being members of a criminal group who provided logistics and equipment for receiving drugs transported from Colombia to Spain by sea, which were then stored and, in coordination with several Spanish criminal groups, distributed," Dacic said, and added:
"A criminal complaint has been filed against Serbian citizen Z.S. (60) and he has been banned from leaving Spain, as well as against three citizens of Slovenia and one citizen of Bulgaria. The (Serbian) Ministry of Internal Affairs remains a reliable partner in combating all forms of transnational crime, especially in the fight against drug trafficking and finding and prosecuting members of criminal groups."
