The Pancevo refinery has resumed operatons after NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia) received a license from the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which allows this to continue until January 23.

The US has imposed sanctions against NIS.

This latest news was shared by Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic late on December 31, who said that obtaining the license was the result of Serbia's diplomatic activities.

"Dear citizens, great news for the end of this year for our country - I am pleased to inform you that the NIS company has received a license from the US OFAC to continue operating until January 23. This means that the refinery in Pancevo will be able to, after 36 days, resume operations," wrote the minister.

According to her, obtaining the license ensures the country's energy stability in the coming period.

The Pancevo refinery plays a key role in supplying the Serbian market with oil derivatives.
