Oil is arriving to NIS refinery, this is where from: Minister Djedovic Handanovic reveals details about MOL
Minister of Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic has confirmed for RTS that since midnight, JANAF (pipeline) has resumed the flow of crude oil to the Pancevo Refinery in Serbia.
On Tuesday morning, the crude oil will once again arrive via JANAF for NIS, which will be delivered this week. The refinery will start operating around January 16.
The minister stated that the Pancevo Refinery will start operating around January 16, in any case before the end of this week, while the first quantities of diesel produced in Serbia will be on the domestic market January 26 or 27.
Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic confirmed that talks are ongoing between the Hungarian MOL and the Russian Gazprom Neft about the sale of the Russian stake in NIS, stressing that Serbia is participating in those talks as a strategic partner.
According to her, NIS represents "critical energy infrastructure in Serbia and the state has a clear interest in protecting its national interests, but is also considering the possibility of increasing its own ownership share in the company."
The minister added that the talks are ongoing, and that one of Serbia's key goals is the extension of the operating license (granted by the US, which has put NIS under sanctions) - while the US OFAC has "certain requirements, primarily an insight into the basic elements of the (ownership change) contract."
Following initial agreements between MOL and Gazprom Neft, all parties are expected to jointly submit a license extension request to OFAC pending final negotiations and a possible transaction.
Djedovic Handanovic also announced the imminent visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto to Belgrade, most likely by the end of this week, when the overall cooperation between the two countries, including the possibility of concluding an international agreement between Serbia and Hungary, as well as further cooperation in the field of energy, will be discussed.
