IMF: It is not true we have we revised projected growth of Serbian economy for 2026 to 3.6 percent
International Monetary Fund, IMF, Resident Representative for Serbia Lev Ratnovski has denied reports published by some media that this financial institution had revised its projection of Serbia's growth for 2026 to 3.6 percent.
"That is not true. The latest IMF growth projection for Serbia in 2026 is 3 percent. This projection was published in a press release after the IMF mission visited, on October 30, 2025, and then it was published again in the Staff Report on December 30, 2025," he said in a written statement.
Ratnovski added that the next IMF growth projection for Serbia will be published as part of the World Economic Outlook (WEO) in April 2026.
The statement explained that the data about annual growth of 3.6 percent may have originated from the WEO database, which is updated for Serbia each October and April, and reflects projections from September and March.
"The WEO update published in January and July revises the figures only for a few largest economies, while it keeps the figures published in October and April for all other countries, including Serbia, in its database" the statement noted.
