Novi Sad woman deals with serial mugger as he tries to steal her necklace

S.R. (19) from the vicinity of Novi Sad has been arrested on suspicion of committing nine serious thefts by ripping off necklaces from people in publkic spaces, and now a video of one such attack has surfaced on social networks.

As can be seen in the video, a woman was waiting for the elevator when the thief got in the building and procedded to grab and pull her necklace.

However, what he got was the short end of the stick: the woman immediately turned around and grabbed him, preventing him from escaping, punched him several times in self defense, and then pushed him out of the building, after which the mugger had a chance to flee.

But he was later arrested. This wasn't uneventful either.

First he tried to run away from the police, and then kicked and injured an officer.

Criminal charges against the suspect will be submitted to the competent public prosecutor's office under regular procedure. He has been taken to the Correctional Center in Krusevac to serve a previous sentence.

Lately, there have been more and more frequent cases of muggling in many cities, specifically targetting people wearing necklaces.
