Unnecessary water consumption banned in Serbia! Heatwave continues: KEY MEASURE announced
Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic said today, after the session of the state Emergency Situations HQ, that the Danube in Serbia is at the lowest water level in the last 100 years, but that the situation today is better than in previous days, and revealed that the HQ has prohibited unnecessary water consumption.

Dacic said that putting pumping stations in Bogojevo and Bezdan into function enables the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal to function despite difficult conditions.
"This primarily refers to business entities that do not need it, in order to enable the normal functioning of this canal, not only, but also the entire ecosystem that exists there. What's important is that there are several segments when it comes to the water level. One is the pumping stations, and the other is the companies that must respect this ban, with exceptions that only apply stopping to consume water would cause serious consequences for the functioning of the system in Serbia," said Dacic.
According to him the hydrological and meteorological situation in Serbia was discussed today, along with the weather forecast for the upcoming period.
He added that the continuation of the heatwave is expected with a smaller drop in temperatures, but mostly with a tendency of them increasing again.
Dacic said that the water traffic is difficult in Serbia, but still works to a certain extent.
"And what is most important is how this reflects on the question of energy. All the competent ministers have reported and spoken about the fact that there is a kind of stagnation with a slight improvement in those parameters, but that we are not at the end of the crisis as the heatwave is expected to continue. Even when you listen to meteorologists, it seems that it will last who knows how long. But we have to function as usual even in those conditions," Dacic said.
The minister added that with the low water level on the Danube, the state has managed to prevent extremely harmful consequences.
