Vucic: I am leaving the post of president as an honorable man who served his people faithfully

Aleksandar Vucic said last night that he is leaving the position of the president of the Republic as an honorable man, who faithfully and loyally served his people and all the citizens of this country and managed, regardless of the challenges, to raise Serbia "like a phoenix from the ashes".

"I am leaving as a man who, I believe, for the longest time served his kinfolk extremely faithfully in impossibly difficult conditions, who managed, together with his team, to raise Serbia like a phoenix from the ashes, to have construction like never before in history, to raise salaries and pensions to the highest level in history, with all the problems we faced, with all the mistakes I made, with all the difficult decisions you can come to, sleepless nights and many problems we faced," Vucic said in response to an N1 reporter asking whether, after submitting his resignation, in addition to the books from the Presidency, he will also take the tents from Pionirski Park.

Speaking about leaving the Presidency building after resigning, which has been announced for later this month, Vucic said that he is not attached to the space, but to the people.

"I believe in the people of Serbia, that they will recognize who faithfully and loyally serves their fatherland, and those who do everything against the interests of their fatherland," Vucic said.

Vucic pointed out that N1 journalist Zaklina Tatalovic tried to bring her badges into the Presidency building last night, which were only temporarily taken from her.

"Those items were only kept for a short time and they will be given back to her immediately. You can see that this is not any kind of journalist, but a brutal political activist who utters the ugliest curses. She wanted to bring those objects here, I guess, to do her performance and the rest of it," said Vucic.

He added that the Presidency is "too serious and responsible house" and that those who want to undermine the institutions of the Republic and their reputation cannot act that way while inside it.

"In any case, I will invite you personally if you are interested in seeing what the empty (presidential) cabinet looks like. You could see what it looked when it was full of beautiful books, beautiful photos of my family, beautiful things made by my little boy and my daughter and everything else, so now you will see what it looks like empty. I had not changed anything since (Milan) Milutinovic, I think these chairs are the same, we just changed the layout a little," said Vucic.
