Dacic: Cooperation with Ohio National Guard is crucial when human lives are at stake

The cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia and the Ohio National Guard, which has lasted for almost two decades, is one of the key pillars for improving and strengthening domestic capacities in the field of protection and rescue, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic.

Posting on the official Instagram account of the MUP, Dacic stressed that the long-term partnership is not only formal, but brings concrete results on the ground when it is most needed.

"For almost two decades, we have been building a partnership with the Ohio National Guard through the exchange of experiences, training and joint activities. It is cooperation that has concrete impact on our readiness to react when it's most difficult," stated said Dacic, adding that mutual trust is also built through direct work.

Quick response to extraordinary challenges

The minister particularly emphasized that efficiency in moments of crisis is of crucial importance for the protection of human lives:

"When human lives and the safety of citizens are at stake, we must be ready to react quickly, organized and efficient."

Experts from US on multi-day visit to Serbia

As part of the continuation of this intensive cooperation, the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is hosting a delegation of the US Army Corps of Engineers - Ohio National Guard (USACE) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA).

The US delegation is in Serbia from September 19 to 24, and the focus of the visit is a detailed exchange of experiences, analysis of operational capacities and improvement of coordination while responding to natural disasters and emergency situations.
