DETAILS OF NOVI BECEJ HORROR: Body parts found in freezer, son suspected of starving his mother

The body of S.S. was found yesterday in the afternoon in her family home in the municipality of Novi Becej, where she lived with her son M.S.

According to unofficial information that appeared in the media, parts of the body were found in a freezer, after which her son was taken into custody and then to a psychiatric institution.

By order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zrenjanin, an autopsy will be performed at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Novi Sad. This should determine the time and cause of death, as well as whether the woman died of natural causes or if her death was the result of trauma.

According to unofficial information, one of the possibilities being investigated is that the woman was starved for some time, that is, that her son did not provide her with adequate nutrition. The possibility that he may have also caused her injuries that led to her death is being checked as well.

For now, however, there is no official confirmation of the cause of death, and the final answer should be provided by the autopsy report. After receiving the report, the police and the prosecutor's office will determine whether there are elements of a criminal offense in the specific case.

M.S. is currently in a psychiatric institution, and the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zrenjanin will decide on further steps after the results of the autopsy and other investigative reports have been made availbale.

The investigation is ongoing, and the competent authorities are determining all the circumstances under which the woman died, as well as when the death occurred.
