Maja lives close to where Kobe died: "There was terrible fog, I don't know why he took off"

Maja says no one in California can believe that Kobe Bryant decided to get on a helicopter considering the terrible weather

Maja Vilicic,a woman from Split who has lived and worked in America for decades, was not far from where Kobe Bryant's helicopter ceashed last night; she says there the fog was so thick you couldn't see an inch in front of you.

Although no one can yet say for sure what caused the crash of the helicopter that killed the famed basketball player and his 13-year-old daughter, the suspicion is that the fog is to blame.

"Nobody in California can believe that Kobe got on a helicopter in this kind of weather. Namely, there has been thick fog in that area of California for several days, which has been a regular sight every morning. You could 'cut it with a knife'. Because of this, flights to LAX (the main airport in Los Angeles) have been regularly delayed for the past two or three days. According to what can be heard so far, the assumption is they crashed into a hill because of the fog," Split woman Maja Vilicic, who has lived and worked in the US for more than 20 years, told the daily Slobodna Dalmacija.

In US terms, Maja lives very close to the site of Kobe Bryant's death.

"I live about 20 kilometers from the scene of the accident or about 20 minutes by car. Just as we are talking now (about an hour and a half after the accident) I am taking a walk and there is fog all around me. From the slopes I am on now, I cannot see the valley below at all, that's how heavy the fog is," said Maja.

Calabasas, a small town where the helicopter crashed, has about 25,000 residents, mostly wealthy ones.

"Wealthy Americans live there, and the area of the town is located between Malibu and Santa Monica. Calabasas has many hills and the helicopter probably hit one, which the pilot obviously did not see due to the fog. A terrible tragedy. Kobe was one of the legends of Los Angeles and certainly did not deserve to end up like this," says Maja Vilicic.

The police are investigating all the details of the accident, as the world is saying goodbye to the legendary basketball player.

Celebrated Serbian basketballer Nikola Jokic has said goodbye to the legendary basketball star in a rather emotional way.
