A Serbian citizen was quarantined on Tuesday in Goa, India, on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus. The unnamed Serbian, said only to be a middle-aged man, recently arrived in India from China, IANS agency is reporting.

He arrived in India last week, and according to Indian media, while in China, he was in a city located 750 kilometers away from Wuhan, which is the epicenter of the epidemic of the dangerous virus.

"He is exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus, such as dry and sore throat. He was in a Chinese city about 750 kilometers from Wuhan, and we are monitoring his condition. All necessary samples have been taken for tests," Indian officials said.

Sources from the Ministry of Health there said they received information about the Serbian citizen's trip to China based on data collected from the central immigration department, which keeps records of international arrivals in the country, The Indian Express reports.

"A Serbian citizen arrived in Goa via Delhi. He came to Cancun (a beach in the south of Goa). The central government informed us of his arrival, and as he was showing symptoms of the virus, he was immediately quarantined," said Vishvayit Rane, Minister of Health of the state of Goa.

Two other persons quarantined

According to Indian media, there are two more people quarantined in Madhya Pradesh - a medical student who recently came from Wuhan and his mother. They were hospitalized at the State Hospital on Monday on suspicion of contracting coronavirus.

More than 130 people have died from the dangerous coronavirus so far and about 6,000 people have been infected.

In the last 24 hours, three new cases have been registered in Germany, increasing the number to 8, with the first cases reported in the United Arab Emirates.
