The Serbian National Assembly will today consider the proposal of a decision on lifting a state of emergency, submitted by the government of Serbia.

As announced from the cabinet of the president of the parliament, Maja Gojkovic, the deputies will also consider a bill on the validity of the regulations adopted by the government and co-signed by the president of the Republic during the state of emergency, that was approved by the National Assembly and proposed by the government of Serbia.

The session will be held in the National Assembly House starting at 10 am.

Six days ago, the  parliament approved the decision to introduce a state of emergency to prevent the spread of coronavirus and adopted the Law on Confirmation of Regulations passed by the government with the president's co-signature during the state of emergency.

The abolition of the state of emergency, including the curfew, does not mean that some measures introduced during the fight against coronavirus will not remain in force.

Gloves and masks will be required in public transport, but also in restaurants and cafes, physical social distancing will remain in effect, as well as a ban on public gatherings; schools, cinemas, and theaters will remain closed.

Crisis HQ member epidemiologist Predrag Kon said recently that the state of emergency in Serbia will be lifted, but that the proclaimed epidemic of special significance continues, as well as the pandemic declared by the World Health Organization, which also means a set of emergency measures.

The rule about keeping two-meter distance between people remains in effect, contacts like hugs and handshakes will have to be avoided until further notice, while people over 65 will be able to go out whenever they want - but it is recommended that they continue to spend more time in their homes.

Taking walks is allowed, but by no means in a group, while celebrations such as weddings, christenings and birthdays will be allowed from June 15.
