Four people suspected of the murder of Milos Perunicic, originally from Bar, Montenegro, who was liquidated in the Spanish city of Marbella last month, have been arrested in Spain, the Spanish police have announced.

The police said that the motive for the murder was the war between Kavac and Skaljari clans - two rival Montenegrin criminal gangs.

Two people suspected of killing Perunicic were arrested in Barcelona, where they allegedly fled after the liquidation. The other two are suspected of covering up the crime. They were arrested in Barcelona and in Marbella, the Spanish police said in a statement.

Two of those arrested are the alleged perpetrators of the murder, while the other two were allegedly tasked with hiding them. The police caught the suspects in a garage in Barcelona.

Perunicic was killed on June 2 this year, not far from the center of Marbella.

As the Spanish media reported at the time, Perunicic was out for a walk when a man dressed in a sailor suit approached him in front of numerous witnesses and fired several shots at him.

The Spanish police said that the investigation quickly revealed that Perunicic's liquidation was a consequence of the conflict between two criminal clans that has been ongoing since 2014, but they did not state which clan Perunicic belonged, or was close to.
