One of the best news from US for Serbia: Is Trump's "Silk Road" coming to the Balkans?

"Tremendously important news that would further elevate relations between Serbia and the United States"

The United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is negotiating to open an office in Belgrade, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said last night, speaking in Washington.

As he pointed out, that would be a great signal for the arrival of US and other investors to our country.

"That would be a terrific signal for all American investors, and especially for our people who live here, in the US, to come to Belgrade and Serbia," said Vucic.

He said that he thinks that the DFC, if that happened, would not have its office anywhere else in the Balkans except in Belgrade.

He added that it would be a big signal for our people as well that Serbia is a good place.

"But, I can't confirm it for you yet, it hasn't been completely agreed yet, but it's an extraordinary piece of news for all three important rating agencies: S&P, Moody's and Fitch. Tremendously important news that would further elevate relations between Serbia and the United States, because we are becoming so much more interesting for the American capital market and for their businessmen."

But, we will wait until tomorrow, Vucic added.

This is an organization that is believed to have a budget of 60 billion euros.

The corporation was personally formed by the president of the United States, and it was conceived as a counterpart to China's New Silk Road.

After Thursday's meeting at the White House, Vucic told Serbian media about how the talks went, as well as what the demand put before Belgrade was like.

"No paper is easy for us, but that one was extremely difficult. Recognition is nothing new, I said that we cannot accept it, now that provision no longer exists," he stated.

Although the special adviser to the US president Richard Grenell said that only economic issues would be "on the table" in Washington on Thursday, he did not rule out the possibility that other, political, issues would be opened in the talks.
