Albania and so-called Kosovo set up joint league in the presence of Edi Rama and head of FIBA Europe

Presidents of the basketball associations of Albania and so-called Kosovo have set up a joint basketball league, through an agreement reached between the two associations that was formalized in Tirana.

According to Kosovo Online, after much negotiations, an agreement on unification of the two leagues was signed in Tirana last night. Eight teams will participate in this league, the best four from Kosovo and Albania each.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Facebook that the establishment of a joint basketball league is a long-time dream come true.

"The single basketball league is only the first line and many similar collaborations will happen in other sports. In this way, our children, brothers of the same blood, will have the opportunity to meet and cooperate through sports from their first steps in life," Rama said.

Beside Rama, FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel also attended the meeting.
