Marko Djuric, the current head of the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija, will be Serbia's new ambassador in Washington, it has been unofficially confirmed for Telegraf.

The embassy in Washington was without an ambassador after the mandate of Djerdj Matkovic expired.

In addition to English, Djuric also speaks Hebrew, as his mother is Jewish, so it will be easy for him to establish good contacts with the Jewish community, like AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

The presence of Marko Djuric in Washington during the recent negotiations and the signing of an economic agreement surprised only those who are not acquainted with political circumstances.

It was also a sign of trust that the president showed in Djuric, leading some to the wrong conclusion that the head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija traveled there because Vucic was preparing him to become the new foreign minister.

It is expected that all procedural matters will be completed in the coming period so that Djuric can take over as ambassador.
