One pilot was killed in the crash of a Serbian military MiG-21 plane in the area of ​​the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik, while the other is still being searched for, Telegraf.rs has learned.

As we learned, the plane crashed in the yard of a local man who was injured. The first photos from the scene show that the MiG-21 was completely destroyed, and after the crash, thick smoke was billowing from the plane.

The accident occurred during the execution of a regular flight this morning at around 9 am. The Serbian Air Force MiG-21 crashed in the area of ​​the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik, the Ministry of Defense announced.

"The plane was inspected this morning in line with all procedures, and after the inspection, it was concluded that it was ready for flight," the ministry said.

An Air Force and Air Defense search and rescue team and competent authorities were at the scene.

Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilovic, and Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Major General Dusko Zarkovic are also at the crash site of the MiG-21 plane in the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik.

According to Tango Six, the Ministry of the Interior was informed about the crash first, which activated a helicopter of the Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of the Interior via the Civil Aviation Directorate, which arrived at the site first, later helping coordinate with the Army, whose helicopter arrived shortly after.

The plane was the only MiG-21 that was active in the Serbian Army, a two-seater (registration number 16185) that was overhauled in 2016 and was the newest MiG-21, bought in December 1986. After the overhaul, it was supposed to fly until 2026, was grounded in 2018, only to start flying again at the beginning of May this year.
