Pulmonologist Branimir Nestorovic stated today that it is important that the percentage of deaths from coronavirus has decreased, in relation to the beginning of the epidemic.

"I do not expect a catastrophe, it can hardly be worse than at the beginning," he told TV Prva.

He also said that it was surprising that there had been very few cases of flu this year, i.e. that the percentage of cases of seasonal flu has dropped by 96 percent.

"Sometimes the flu turns into coronavirus, and people are also moving less," said Nestorovic.

Nestorovic reiterated that children can hardly get sick from coronvirus, especially those under 12 years of age.

"Young people can get sick, that's known, but the risk of complications of the disease is lower, they can get pneumonia, but not some thromboses," he stated.

Speaking about collective immunity, he said it certainly exists, even crosswise with other coronaviruses.

"There is little talk about Sweden, they did make some mistakes, the chief epidemiologist admitted. They did not guard old people's homes. However, they now have almost no epidemic, they have achieved collective immunity," said Dr. Nestorovic.
