Girl whose parents beat her and cut off her hair because she was with a Serb: "My uncle did it"

When they found out about the decision of their daughter S.Z. (17) to marry a Christian Serb, Dusan J., a native of Prokuplje in Serbia, her parents, uncle and aunt, Bosniaks (Muslims) from Travnik, Bosnia, cut her hair off and abused her. This happened last summer in Besancon, France. Their act horrified not only the Balkans and France, but also the rest of Europe.

The court recently expelled her parents from France after their asylum request was rejected and they returned to Bosnia, while her uncle and aunt, as asylum seekers, filed an appeal.

In an exclusive testimony for Novosti - which previously obtained consent from her lawyer - the unfortunate girl said that court trials are not over and that she is not completely satisfied with the decision of the court.

"I am not satisfied with the decision regarding my uncle, because he has not been punished enough. He also appealed, because he doesn't agree with the punishment he received. That is why we have another court date again on November 26," says S.Z.

She previously said that "the truth will come to light sooner or later and it will win sooner or later."

"This is about the fact that my parents said my father cut off my hair, and in fact, it was not my father but my uncle. The parents only wanted to protect the uncle, so that he would not lose his 'papers' in France, because they certainly had to return to Bosnia," explains S.Z.

She confirmed that she is happy that they did not separate her from her boyfriend.

"I am happy that we won in the end, and that I stayed with him here in France!," she said.

Her family is now far away, she won't be able to see them for a while. As a minor, she is taken care of by the social services.

"I do feel a little sorry about my parents and it's hard for me, but I will still get over it, after everything I've been through. I was strong before and I will stay strong until the end. It is especially difficult for me to be without my sister, because we were very close."

She is now recovering from everything that took place.

"At the moment, I don't feel bad, like I did when all this happened," she said.

She also revealed that she continues her relationship with Dusan.

"I see him every week. That means a lot to us!"

Wedding next year

The inevitable question was also whether there are any plans for a wedding, and S.Z. removed any dilemmas.

"Yes, there will be a wedding next year. I will turn 18 in early July and after I come of age, there will be a wedding," she said.
