Nemanja Vidic hits Serbian FA hard: Legendary footballer's open letter to Serbia

"The whole system works in the interest of managers and officials, and not in the interest of football. It allows people with, to put it mildly, dubious resumes, to earn massive amounts of money," Vidic said

Nemanja Vidic, a former member of the Serbian national football team, and former captain of Manchester United, has fiercely attacked the Football Association of Serbia (FSS)!

In an open letter, Vidic went after the head of the FSS, Slavisa Kokeza, and his associates because of the current situation in Serbian football.

We carry his letter in its entirety:

"Enough already! I have the need to speak what I feel and share my opinion with the public. This system is destructive and short-term. It spends football people, it creates short-term-use footballers and coaches, it gives office to people with suspicious intentions.

The whole system works in the interest of managers and officials, not in the interest of football. It allows people with, to put it mildly, dubious resumes, to earn massive amounts of money. A system that sacks a coach who qualifies for the World Cup?!?

Football players and coaches are doomed to cooperate with such people, because, unfortunately, they are the ones who decide on their fate. They teach children that for the path to success is your manager and your coach, because quality is no longer the measure, neither in football, nor among people.

This way of functioning starts in the younger categories. By the time a player comes to the first team, he has learned the opposite of what should create emotion and respect for the jersey he wears (sports and team spirit, fair play, playing their best...) Only when that changes will every player fight to be a member of such a national team! It's what our people say: 'You reap what you sow.'

This system has persisted for many years. They say that players and coaches are always to blame, which is logical, but not that they are not good football players, but bad people, they won't play for the national team. No coach/head national team coach has been good in the last 20 years, even when qualifying for the World Cup! But their system is still good!

So from which system did that staff come out?

Shame on you!

There are always yes men who criticize the consequence, not the cause of the problem, and thus defend the president and the rotten system since they benefit from it for years, never mentioning the 'successes' achieved by the president of the FSS (irregularity of the championship, unsportsmanlike relations between Red Star and Partizan, therefore divisions in society, deepened distrust in Serbian football and the refereeing organization, not to mention the 'successes of the national team').

'Capable' people in our football are those who manipulate the system and the law! Just ask them where they got their money from and how they earned it! Until that changes - there will be no progress! I am really interested in seeing which expert will come forward next to defend such a system," Vidic wrote.
