Red Star has reacted to the news that Guelor Kanga is at the center of a scandal in African football for allegedly forging his personal documents.

Namely, the Democratic Republic Congo has accused Gabon that Guelor Kanga played for their team although he is not actually Gabonese, but was born in Congo's capital Kinshasa under another name, and is allegedly five years older than than is officially presented.

Red Star has stressed that they trust their footballer and hope that the truth will be proven soon.

"Regarding the information coming from Africa about the age of our football player Guelor Kanga, we want to point out that Red Star trusts its football player. Kanga has a valid Gabonese passport, as well as residence in France. He played in Russia as well as the Czech Republic and did not have the slightest problem anywhere. We perceive this information as a war between the two football associations over participation in the African Cup of Nations, in which Kanga is collateral damage. We hope that the situation will be resolved as soon as possible in favor of Guelor Kanga," said a Red Star statement.
