A.K. (24) from Belgrade, who is suspected of kicking his girlfriend in the stomach in a parking lot in Vozdovac, was questioned yesterday before the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, where he admitted to the attack, justifying the blow as "not having been that hard," the daily Blic has learned.

According to available information, he partially admitted to being guilty, and told the acting deputy of the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office that he had an argument with his girlfriend on June 11.

"He said that the girl was extremely drunk, and that she pushed him, after which he kicked her in the stomach," a source familiar with the case told Blic.

The suspect said that he found out about the video showing him striking the woman after it was published in the media, and as his interlocutor explains, he said that he regretted the event.

"He pointed out that their conflict was not at all what it looked like in the video and that it was not so bad, and that he did not hit her as hard as it seems," the source added.

After the questioning, the prosecution requested that the suspect be remanded in custody for up to 30 days to prevent him influencing witnesses.

The woman who was kicked in the stomach also has her own view of the events.

"You have already published fake headlines without asking me beforehand, you have all gone too far with the lynching because of your stupid job. Of course, I do not want to make any statement, you should be ashamed," she told the daily Kurir.

On Friday, a video made in the evening hours of June 11 in Vozdovac surfaced on social networks, showing a young man and a young woman first pushing each other, and then he turns around and kicks her. Due to the force of the blow, the woman falls to the ground and stays there sitting, while he nonchalantly leaves, gets into a car and drives away in an unknown direction.

Only a day earlier, a video of a horrific case of violence on Ada Ciganlija in Belgrade also aappeared on social networks. The assailant, Nikola V. (34) first hit and then kicked a woman, D.T. (36) in the head, in front of more than 20 people. He was quickly arrested and then admitted to the prosecution that he had assaulted the woman. At the prosecution's proposal, he was remanded in custody after the questioning.
