Tragedy in Badovinci: Boy (9) drowns in Drina River, he disappeared in deep whirlpools

N.N. (9) from Badovinci drowned yesterday in the Drina River, and his lifeless body was recovered this morning around 9 o'clock.

The boy, according to the locals, was home alone after his parents went to work in the morning. He allegedly went to the river on his bicycle in the morning, where the family have a cabin. When they returned from work, the parents realized that he was not there and started looking for him.

Neighbors say that the father found the boy's bicycle, shorts and slippers on the bank of the Drina. That is how he realized that the child disappeared in the whirlpools of the Drina, which is extremely deep in that place.

Divers were also involved in the search for the boy starting yesterday afternoon, when the disappearance was reported.

An investigation is underway at the site where the body was found, after which more details about this tragedy will be known.

The boy just finished the second grade of primary school and is the second of four children in this family.
