Those who have been vaccinated should be given access to all cultural, musical and sporting events, unlike those who do not accept immunization, believes Dr. Branislav Tiodorovic. He believes that in that way, the epidemiological situation in Serbia would improve.

In his opinion, there should not be any restrictive rules that would create animosity and discontent among people, the kind we could see these days in some other countries.

"I am in favor of the force of arguments, not the argument of force. First of all, legal experts must define it so well that it is in accordance with the Constitution and laws. We cannot say that our laws are more democratic than, say, French or Austrian ones. A move should be made that aims to protect health, but which is based on laws," Dr. Tiodorovic told the daily Politika.

He believes that it would not be effective if some rigorous measures were to be taken now when it comes to restricting the gathering of people. Now is the time to vaccinate those who have not yet done so, he believes.

On the other hand, epidemiologist Dr. Lela Ilic has a slightly different opinion. She told Politika that the most important thing is to respect the existing preventive measures. She notes that it is not conflicting to pass a regulation on mandatory vaccination for certain categories of the population, because that is allowed in the Law on Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases.

"Now a lot depends on how much the state is ready to take risks and adopt some measures that may not be popular, in order to stop the epidemic. Doctors are constantly saying that it is necessary to ban larger gatherings, but still nothing changes. The measures will not be respected if people know that no one controls them," Dr. Ilic told Politika.

As she recalled, only one infected person can infect seven others during a celebration, then each of them seven more, and so on indefinitely.
