President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic arrived today at COP2 Climate Summit in Glasgow, hosted by the UK.

Vucic, as well as other world leaders, has been welcomed by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who all greeted each other by touching elbows, in front of a poster showing a giant planet Earth against a blue background.

On the sidelines of the Summit in Glasgow, the president of Serbia met during the day with Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, among others.

"Strong support for the Open Balkans (initiative). Should we hold or postpone the meeting in Belgrade, bearing in mind the events in Skopje?," wrote Vucic on his official Instagram account, "buducnostsrbijeav," posting also photos from Glasgow before the beginning of the COP26 Summit.

Prime ministers of Albania and North Macedonia Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev were supposed to visit Serbia November 3-4 in order to attend a meeting dedicated to the Open Balkans initiative.

In the meantime, a poor showing of his party in local elections in North Macedonia led Zaev to resign as PM and as his party's leader, so his arrival in Belgrade is uncertain for now.

Talks with representatives of Austria, Guinea-Bissau and Bulgaria

"At COP26, I am talking to Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg, President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Stefan Janev," Vucic reported via his Instagram account.

In the background of the Summit, non-violent protests and a strike of garbage collectors are taking place, warning about the climate change in progress.

The president of Serbia has been in Glasgow since yesterday. During the summit he will address a meeting of heads of state and government, and will attend an event to mark the launching of an initiative on global methane reduction, organized by US President Joseph Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
