Colonel General Rahman Rama has resigned as commander of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), Indeks Online reported, and the president of the illegitimately proclaimed Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, appointed Major General Bashkim Jashari as the new KSF commander.

Bashkim Jashari is the son of Rifat Jashari, the son of Rifat Jashari, the brother of Adem Jashari, the founder of the KLA, who even before the start of the conflict in Kosovo led a group that carried out attacks against Serbian security forces, reports Tanjug.

According to their presidency, the appointment was made in line with the Law on Kosovo Security Force, at the proposal of the Minister of Defense and the recommendation of the prime minister of so-called Kosovo. Prior to the appointment of the new KSF commander, Osmani issued a decree dismissing the current KSF commander, Colonel General Rahman Rama, who had previously resigned.

Albanian media in Pristina recently reported that the procedure for Rama's dismissal was initiated two months ago after his alleged clash with Minister of Defense Armend Mehaj. According to the Index Online, disagreements between the KSF commander and the minister of defense occurred on September 18, two nights before the operation of the Kosovo police in the north to establish the reciprocity of license plates with Serbia.

That evening, according to unnamed sources, Mehaj ordered the KSF command to paint four US military armored vehicles M1117 ASV in blue, saying they would be used to support the police action in the north of Kosovo, which Rama categorically refused.

Something of the kind is not allowed according to the agreement on delivery of vehicles from the US, which was later officially announced by Washington.

As a reminder, in accordance with the agreement between Pristina and KFOR from 2013, KSF members can only enter the north of Kosovo with the permission of the KFOR commander.
