It's official: Australians give in, Djokovic gets permission to play at Australian Open!

The world's best tennis player, Novak Djokovic, will participate in the first Grand Slam of the season.

Djokovic has received an exemption permission from the authorities there and will compete in Melbourne.

Novak has confirmed this on his social media accounts.

"I've spent fantastic quality time with my loved ones over the break and today I'm heading Down Under with an exemption permission. Let's go 2022!!," Novak wrote.

This put an end to months of speculation about whether the best tennis player in the world and the record holder in the number of trophies won in Melbourne will have the chance to defend the title he has won as many as nine times in the past.

Australian authorities have long insisted that only vaccinated players can compete in the first Grand Slam of this season, but they have obviously given in in the meantime, and allowed Novak to compete after all.

At the same time, this confirms the recent reporting by Telegraf that Djokovic will participate in the Australian Open. The tournament starts on January 17.

Now all that's left for Novak is to show why he is the best tennis player of all time and conquer Melbourne for the 10th time.
