The head of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic met today with representatives of a consortium of Chinese companies - China Railway International Co. and China Communications Construction Co. - that are building the Novi Sad-Subotica section of a high-speed railway.

It was stressed at the meeting that works are underway on the lower line from Novi Sad to Rumenka, as well as on the dismantling of the existing infrastructure, and that the plan is to start works to build the high-speed railway on the entire section in early June.

Mirovic said that the state trusts Chinese companies, bearing in mind all important projects that have been implemented in the territory of our country so far, all thanks to the strategic alliance established by the presidents of Serbia and China Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping.

"The provincial government has made all its resources available in order to contribute and support the realization of this project, which is of national importance," Mirovic pointed out.

Mirovic said that it was important for our country to engage as many Serbian subcontractors as possible in this project, while the representatives of the Chinese consortium expressed their readiness to do this.

The deputy director general of the consortium thanked for the support that the Provincial Government is ready to provide in realizing this project.

The section of the high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Kelebija is 108 kilometers long and will have 11 stations and one stop.

The meeting was also attended by Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport Ognjen Bjelic.
