Hospitality venues in Subotica that served migrants punished: Some shut down, others fined 5 million

Integrated supervision by the Republic inspection services and members of the police, the Emergency Situations Sector, with the assistance of members of the Subotica Police Administration, has resulted in imposing serious measures to the owners of buildings in the vicinity of the Buvljak market (flea market), which are one of the main gathering places for foreign citizens, migrants, it was announced from the Northern Backa District.

During the checks, it was established that 86 migrants who used hospitality services stayed in the said facilities.

Due to observed violations of legal regulations, the inspection services, within their jurisdiction, ordered one of the controlled facilities to stop working, while misdemeanor charges were filed against the persons responsible for the observed violations, for which fines range from two to five million dinars.

In the coming days, integrated supervision will continue in the entire territory of the Northern Backa administrative district in venues for which there is reliable information that they are providing hospitality services to foreign citizens - migrants, the announcement said.

The head of the Northern Backa administrative district reminds the public about the promise made in the previous period that any person who provides services to migrants, contrary to legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia, will be held responsible for their actions, as well as that no one will be protected from the consequences of breaking the law, concludes the statement.
