When looking for a job, hands-on experience is now equally as important as formal education. Students know that different workshops, summer schools and internships are setting them apart during the candidate selection process, and also that these are amazing opportunities to gain experience while still in school. This is especially important in IT, an industry that’s changing rapidly, demanding more and more educated, experienced and talented people to work with the latest technology.

EDIT is very well known in the region, as a free summer school that helps young IT talents get hands-on experience and work on real-life IT projects for more than two decades. EDIT’s mission is to offer IT (and related areas) students a chance to work on creating proper IT solutions, learn from experienced mentors and IT professionals, and gain valuable insights and skills they need to enter the job market.

Many EDIT students are already renowned experts in their fields. Seeing how well it impacts the future of its alumni, it’s quite important that this year EDIT has expanded its capacities, in order to host as many students as possible. EDIT 2022 had welcomed 118 students from three countries, 20 mentors and 19 teams!

This year, the summer school was a hybrid event (held live and online), open days and team buildings were organized across Comtrade offices in the region, while students and mentors worked in international teams, with colleagues from Slovenia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Additionally, for the first time ever, EDIT students could choose between three different topics for their IT project: anomaly detection in air traffic, developing a mobile application with React Native, or creating an applied AI solution using a low-code platform. All of the topics are created in line with global IT developments and current trends, while students enjoyed a combination of lectures, workshops and project work.
