Vucic: Foreign attachés have no business in Serbian Army barracks

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that, as the supreme commander of the Armed Forces of Serbia, he rejected a request of several Western countries to send their military attachés to inspect weapons, tools and other items in the barracks in Novi Pazar and Raska, and explained that they have no business being there.

Vucic said this at the request of a journalist to confirm the news published by Novosti, and when asked what the reasoning for this request was, he said:

"I assume because of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and that is probably their reason and justification, and as the supreme commander of the Armed Forces I rejected such a possibility, in accordance with Serbia's policy of neutrality and the Constitution and independence and sovereignty, which are the characteristics of our freedom-loving policies."

He stressed that representatives of competent Serbian state bodies can enter there with the approval of the commander-in-chief, and no other way.

"So I wasn't willing to allow them to enter our garrisons and barracks. At some other time, maybe when we organize an exhibition or a party - but for them to enter like this and check what's in our barracks, that's not their job and they have no business being there," Vucic said, according to Tanjug.
