Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic was last night a guest on the TV Pink talk show "Hit Tvit" ("Hit Tweet").

One of the topics was the issue of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"As far as sanctions are concerned, I don't have much new to say. Serbia has a principled position on the issue of sanctions, we clearly state that position each time, in each meeting. But, as they say in international politics, these are strange things, when you thump your chest about ethics and in favor of introducing sanctions against Russia because of aggression against Ukraine, and then you look at the fact that Belgium managed not to sanction the import of diamonds from the Russian Federation.

Well, now in that whole ethics story, diamonds turn out to be something more important than aggression and territorial integrity of an internationally recognized state which they deny to us, in our case (regarding Kosovo and Metohija) so when some ambassador says that one standard does not apply to every country, it seems that no standard applies to our country. All their standards fail when it comes to the Republic of Serbia, but it is up to us fight," said Brnabic.

Brnabic also said that the EU has no right to come up with conditions for Serbia, because we have not even opened Chapter 31 (Common Foreign and Security Policy).

The guests also touched on the current issue of air pollution.

Asked how it should be looked at and whether data showing thart elgrade is among the most polluted cities in the world in terms of air quality is worrisome, Brnabic said that it is relevant to look at data at the annual level, with a degree of caution, because it depends on where the meters are placed.

The SNS, she stressed, is the right and only party that has done something serious to preserve the environment and improve air quality.

"Citizens should trust that they have a responsible government that deals with it, invests money in projects to solve problems, and does not involve itself with empty stories," said Brnabic.
