The Kosovo police announced it is looking to recruit police officers in the north of Kosovo, after about 500 Serb police officers resigned in November last year in protest at the announcement by the Pristina authorities that they would punish drivers of cars with license plates issued by Belgrade.

A Kosovo police statement now says that members of all minorities (Serbs, Bosniaks, Turks, Gorani, Romani, Ashkali, Egyptians, Croats, Montenegrins, Macedonians) can apply at the regional directorate of the Kosovo police Mitrovica North.

The application process will last from April 19 until May 12 at 4 pm.

In January of this year, the Kosovo police also organized recruitment of minority police officers in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo.

The process was supposed to last until January 16, but it was extended until February 10. According to Pristina-based Koha Ditore, 140 candidates applied back then, for the 500 announced job openings.

About 500 police officers resigned in November last year in protest against the Pristina authorities' decision to re-register cars with Serbian license plates to RKS license plates.
