That nature can surprise you when you least expect it has been proven once again, this time in the village of Rosici near the town of Kosjeric, western Serbia, when quite by chance nature lovers who happened nearby discovered a huge, black sinkhole in the ground, in the middle of a meadow.

The locals were very scared at first, because someone might have easily fallen into this "abyss" unawares.

"Some of the soil collapsed due to a large amount of water, and then a crater several meters deep appeared. It revealed the shaft of an abandoned magnesite mine. Next to the beams that secured the mine, a large amount of water appeared in the sinkhole itself, which was an incredible sight to behold," Milan Bozovic from Kosjeric told RINA.

He added that this natural phenomenon and the large sinkhole full of water is not completely accidental, because it happened under the Divcibare mountain, which is rich in sources of clean drinking water.

"There used to be a magnesite mine there that was shut down after the war because of huge amount of water that would fill the mine shafts, the miners had to leave to save their lives. To this today, you can see the entrance to the mine on Mt. Divcibare. You could say that precisely the mine itself represented the nucleus of the creation of Divcibare as a settlement," Bozovic said of this mountain and the village by the same name, which is now a well-known tourist resort.

He invited all those capable of doing research and tests to do that related to these mines, because he considers that region very rich in Serbian history and natural wealth that people should be aware of.
