Police reveal motive for kidnapping of 14-year-old girl Vanja: The child was found dead yesterday

The police in North Macedonia are still shedding light on all the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 14-year-old girl from Skopje, Vanja (Vanya) Gorchevska, and as announced at the press conference, the motive for the crime was monetary gain.

"The motive is personal interest, where persons, with the consent of a family member, organized the execution of a criminal act, with the aim of extracting (ransom) money from the mother," said Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski. According to media reports, the mother had recently sold her apartment so the killers knew she had money.

The minister said earlier that Vanja's father Aleksandar is suspected in the case of the abduction of his daughter. It has not yet been revealed why exactly the child has been murdered. Reports say that she was shot from a firearm.

Bubevski stated that the suspects' plan was ask for money after the girl was murdered, which happened when an extensive search for her was launched.

The teenager disappeared on November 27 while she was on her way to school in Skopje. Her dead body was found yesterday in a village on the outskirts of the city. According to information available so far, the girl was killed on the same day she disappeared.

According to the police, the kidnappers learned from the main suspect in the murder, Ljupco P., when the girl would leave her home, while he got that information from her father.

The child was taken immediately after leaving the building where she lived.

Five people are suspected in this case of abduction and murder of a child, one of whom is at large.

According to the prosecutor, the three suspects Velibor Manev, Vlatko Keshishev and Bore Videvski admitted to their involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Vanja Gorchevska, and of another victim, Panche Zhezhovski.

Zhezhovski was a hairdresser and it is suspected that he was killed over a €500 debt.
