This is murder victim Zoran from Lazarevac: Kick-boxer dismembered him, parts of remains still searched for

Serbia was shocked by a brutal crime that took place on the banks of the Kolubara River, where on June 23, around 10 pm, body parts  of murder victim Zoran Lukic from Lazarevac, whose family had been looking for since June 19, were found.

According to information from the investigation, the body parts were packed in a sack, and they were found by a local who immediately informed the police. A DNA test was soon done, which confirmed that the body was that of Zoran Lukic, whose family reported him missing four days earlier.

Today, the police officially confirmed that S.M. (28), from the vicinity of Lazarevac, has been arrested on suspicion of committing this aggravated murder.

His arrest comes after an intensive investigation conducted by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP, in cooperation with the prosecution.

It is suspected that S.M. killed Zoran with a hammer, then dismembered the body, put it in a sack and threw it into the Kolubara. The motive is stated to be a loan of 100,000 euros that the suspect owed the victim.

S.M. will be detained by the police for up to 48 hours and will then be brought before the prosecutor, along with a criminal complaint.

The search for the rest of the victim's body is still ongoing. Gendarmerie's diving unit is involved in this operation.

At the time the initial discovery was made, Zoran Lukic's son said that he did not know who could have harmed his father.

"My father is missing... He didn't owe anything to anyone, everyone owed to him," he said as he was watching the police search the river.

The locals were shocked by these events, saying that Lukic was known in Lazarevac as the owner of a cafe, but also as someone who was lending money and charging interest.

"Allegedly, on the day he disappeared, he was going to meet with someone who owed him money. Otherwise, everyone knows him mostly because he lends money," said one of the victim's neighbors.
