President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Jovanovic has been assaulted and beaten in this coastal Montenegrin town, Vijesti said it learned from several sources.

Jovanovic was attacked by three men, according to sources from the Montenegrin police.

He suffered serious injuries.

Jovanovic confirmed to Vijesti that he is now in the hospital in Kotor, but did not want to provide any details.

According to Vijesti, Jovanovic was attacked this morning at a swimming pool where he was with friends.

The first information from the investigation is that the police are looking for three brothers, one of whom is registered as a member of an organized crime group,

Two of them are reportedly members of the New Serb Democracy party.
