Former Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic and former German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger are divorced

One of the best known sports couples in the world, Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger, have decided to end their marriage after nine years.

The news was confirmed by the lawyer of the former well-known Serbian tennis player, with a note that there will be no further statements, because - "in the whole process, the most important thing for Ana are the children."

Ana and Bastian got married in July 2016 in a romantic ceremony in Venice, which was covered by international media.

The couple had met two years earlier, while Schweinsteiger was still playing for Bayern Munich and Ana was slowly winding down her remarkable tennis career, which she officially ended in December 2016, the same year they got married.

During the marriage, they had three children - two sons older sons, named Luka and Leon, while the identity of the youngest child was never publicly revealed.

Although their relationship seemed harmonious in public, in recent months there have been more and more rumors about a marriage in a crisis.

As the reason for the divorce, Ana's legal representative stated "irreconcilable differences" - while appealing to the public to respect the privacy of the family, especially the children.

The German Bild writes that the problems arose due to different life priorities - Ana was reportedly spending more time in Serbia, where her family helps her with the children, while Bastian was often away on trips due to his obligations as a football commentator.

The couple last appeared in public together in September of last year, at the Laver Cup in Berlin and then at a Christmas market, after which social media posts featuring the family all but stopped.

The speculation was further stirred by the news published by the German tabloids in June - Schweinsteiger was seen kissing his new partner, identified only as "Silva" - a Bulgarian woman he allegedly met "through the children."

The couple were seen together on a beach and have also been on trips to Morocco and Majorca.

And while Bastian was vacationing in different countries, Ana was recently in London for Wimbledon. a tournament that is one of her favorites and where she reached the semifinals, in 2007.
