President Aleksandar Vucic: Large scale protests are over, Serbia is slowly but surely moving forward

President Aleksandar Vucic said last night that at one point it seemed that some people in Serbia who had no political vision became dominant on the political scene, but that time has passed, Serbia escaped disaster and is slowly but surely moving forward.
Vucic was taking questions from journalists in New YOrk after his speech at the UN General Assembly, when he said that large scale anti-government protests have dwindled after some time and that everything that happened was the result of less and less basic decency.
"Now we have overcome any larger demonstrations, that does not exist, since those who organize large demonstrations are no problem for the state, nor for society, nor do they attack anyone. That's scheduled for Sunday, instead of Saturday, at 5 pm. And those others (anti government protesters), that's 1,000-2,000 (people) at most. Serbia escaped disaster and is slowly but surely moving forward," stressed Vucic.
Asked how seriously the UN took the murder of Charlie Kirk in the US, Vucic said that the event shook everyone so much that 12 or 13 speakers addressed it at the UN, among them the president of Ukraine and the president of Paraguay.
"Today you have madmen who rejoice at someone's death, and this was the death of a young, innocent man, just because that man thought differently than they do. It tells you how low we've fallen and how sick everything is getting. And in such a sick world, what do you expect, every day someone's threatening another," said Vucic.
He added that it's like in Anton Chekhov's plays - when a gun is hanging on the wall in the first act, it will almost certainly be fired in the third and lead to tragedy.
"Same with this, every day there's talk about who wants to conquer whom, in what way, who wants to take territory from whom, who wants to destroy whom, who is stronger, and after that, when tragedy happens, then let me ask you - and who is to blame for that?," said Vucic.
The Serbian President pointed out that we need to work a lot, fight, see how to approach the future and push the country forward.
