GIRL WHOSE FATHER DIED TRYING TO RESCUE HER FROM FLAMES PASSES AWAY AS WELL: Tragedy in Pancevo

Dark news has shaken Serbia. A 5-year-old girl, who was seriously injured in a terrible fire in Pancevo, has died as a result of her burns.

This was confirmed by a relative, Ruzica Novakovic.

"Unfortunately, our sweet darling, our heart, soul, sun and life, our little one, has left us. She has gone to her father, may our angels rest in peace," Novakovic told Kurir.

Father died a hero

The horrific fire broke out in the evening of March 24 in the house the family was renting. The blaze engulfed the 80-square-meter home instantly, while the mother and her three daughters were inside.

The father, as soon as he realized that his eldest was trapped, ran back into the house without hesitation. He managed to reach her, but both suffered what proved to be fatal injuries. The father died two days later, leaving behind his wife and two younger daughters, whom firefighters managed to evacuate safely.

Four minutes away from salvation

Fire crews responded in record time - they were at the scene just four minutes after receiving the call. 9 firefighters-rescuers with four vehicles fought the fire that turned 50 square meters of the house and part of the attic into ashes. Unfortunately, despite the quick reaction and the doctors' efforts, the injuries suffered by the man and his daughter were too severe.

Pancevo and the whole country were stunned by this tragedy. The family, which already lived in difficult conditions, was now left without the father, a child and a roof over their heads.
