On this day 27 years ago the central part of the town of Nis in southern Serbia was attacked with cluster bombs. The attack happened as part of the NATO aggression against Serbia in 1999, resulting in the death of 16 residents of Nis, including a pregnant woman.

18 people were also injured on May 7, 1999.

Cluster bombs were dropped on the area around the University of Nis, the Tvrdjavska Market, Sumatovacka Street, and near the bus station - the locations frequented by a large number of people at that time of day.

The city of Nis was again targeted with cluster bombs on May 12, 1999, when 11 people were wounded.
