"We are not satisfied": Djedovic speaks after MOL revises NIS contract - "We're protecting our refinery!"
Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said today that a revised proposal by the Hungarian company MOL - regarding the acquisition of a majority stake in NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia) - arrived late last night, but that the Serbian side is still not satisfied with the offered solutions.
She stated that the main stumbling block in the negotiations relates to the future operation of the Pancevo refinery, i.e. the issue of market coverage by product from the refinery.
"We will not jeopardize our supply security, nor the impact that the operation of the refinery has on the economy. Negotiations continue today and tomorrow. We want to reach a compromise, but not at any cost," said the minister.
Djedovic Handanovic added that the talks between MOL and Gazprom Neft are continuing in parallel, stressing that it is important that those negotiations are also completed, so that the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) can give its opinion and make a final decision.
