SNS leader Milos Vucevic said today that the EXPO 2027 project represents a historic opportunity for economic momentum, modernization of infrastructure and global affirmation of Serbia, and that statements about its cancellation coming from the opposition reflect the absence of a vision, and a policy of blocking the country's development.

"For the Serbian Progressive Party, EXPO 2027 is not only a political project, but a state priority that brings together more than a hundred countries from around the world and brings billions of euros of investments, new jobs and the modernization of transport and communal infrastructure," Vucevic stated in a post on X, reacting to Dragan Djilas, who heads the Evropska Srbija ("European Serbia") electoral list, saying that after current authorities are gone EXPO 2027 would be cancelled.

Vucevic added that the cancellation of such a large international event could seriously damage the credibility of Serbia in front of international partners and investors, as well as stop the economic momentum that directly affects the living standards of all citizens.

He pointed out that, when it comes to financial transparency, all contracts, public procurements and money flows within the project are implemented in accordance with the law and are subject to checks by state and independent institutions.

"Instead of obstruction and irresponsible announcements that lead to economic and political instability, Serbia's key interest is the successful implementation of a project that leaves a lasting legacy for future generations. A man who used his position in power exclusively for personal benefit cannot understand that," stated Vucevic.

Djilas previously said that, after the change of government, the EXPO 2027 project will be canceled and that all contracts, public procurement and money flows related to the project will be investigated.
