Branimir Bajic, who plays for Duisburg is the main initiator of raising funds for 11-old girl Katarina Gubic who suffers from cancer

Branimir Bajic, a former Partizan player, who currently plays for Duisburg- third tier football league, initiated raising funds for a girl of Serbian origin who suffers from cancer.

Katarina Gubic is 11 years old and suffers from cancer, and her full treatment requires serious financial assistance. She is from Bijeljina, just like Branimir, who joined the campaign to help her as soon as he heard about the difficult situation that she and her family faced.

The former Partizan player involved his football club in the campaign, and with the help of a former teammate Stevan Jovetić, the campaign was supported by the players of the English champion – Manchester City. They have recently shared a photo of their team's shirt on social networks, and instead of the surnames of players, there was the address of the organization that would help this girl – Helft-katarina.de

Katarina was diagnosed thigh bone cancer which spread on her knee, so it was necessary to amputate her leg and now she uses prosthesis. She started both rehabilitation process and the physical therapy.

- Katarina is a real fighter. Doctors said they had never seen such a strong girl. Although there are tears in her eyes sometimes, she almost never cries – said Bajić after her surgery, and urged those who can to help financially.

– We have collected 38,000 Euros through donations and humanitarian actions. There are a lot of other medical treatments which require between 170,000 and 200,000 Euros. I hope that we will continue to support Katarina until her complete recovery.

The football club Duisburg that Bajić plays for, is having a third tier league match on Saturday, 14 March, and a certain percentage of the revenue from each ticket will be allocated to help Katarina.
