Vucic comments on race unrest in the US: I wish Trump all the best

We want the American people to overcome difficulties and we are convinced that America will soon start the momentum of economic progress, and I wish Trump all the best - said the president of Serbia

President Aleksandar Vucic today visited Novi Pazar, where he toured works on the construction of the road Karajukica Bunari-Rasno, as well as the works on the reconstruction of the road Novi Pazar-Tutin, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic.

After the visit, the president took questions from journalists.

Political rallies after June 12

Speaking today about the continuation of the dialogue with Pristina, Vucic said that he was always ready to sit at the table, that this was more important to him than partisan matters, and revealed when first political rallies could be held.

"We will most likely be holding the rallies starting from June 12 or 15," he said after the tour in Novi Pazar.

Answering questions regarding the situation in the United States, Vucic expressedhis support to the US president and citizens.

"We want the American people to overcome difficulties and we are convinced that America will soon start the momentum of economic progress, and I wish Trump all the best. When I read the comments saying, 'the chickens have come home to roost' I do not agree with that, no matter how unpopular that opinion is," said Vucic and added that there is a human side to everything because America went through the coronavirus epidemic with difficulty.

Impact of events in the US on relations with Serbia

The president said that the current events in the United States do not mean that country will lose interest in Serbia and the resolution of the Kosovo issue.

"Grenell's and Lajcak's interest is not declining, on the contrary, it is growing. Am I always happy about that? No, but I must be aware of the position of Serbia," said Vucic.

Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina

"Great powers have always meddled in our affairs," said President Vucic and added that "Serbia will still have to have a say in some things."

"The citizens and the leadership of Serbia will make decisions. Do we have to talk to everyone? Yes, we have to. But we will have a say. It is realistic to sit at the table, they know what conditions they have to fulfill. As soon as that happens, I am ready," said the president of Serbia.

He also commented on the new measures of Pristina and said that those who needed to, have spoken about it.

"I think it's crazy what they're doing, but fortunately both Americans and Europeans have condemned it. These are the values ​​of civilization," Vucic pointed out, saying that Serbia has huge losses due to Pristina's decision.

He explained that every freedom-loving person would like to decide about their own country.

President announces new highway contract

President Vucic pointed out that a contract for the highway from Belgrade to Boljare would be signed in the coming months.

"Everything will be different for you, that means more companies, more investments. Belgrade and Sarajevo will be closer to you," he said, addressing local residents.
